Friends of our just became grandparents (to twins)! Both their daughter and son-in-law studied in Russia, St. Petersburg, I believe. Their daughter is a professor in the department specializing in Russian and East European Languages and Literature. So, it's no surprise that one of their twin daughters has a Slavic name: Nadezhda. (the pronunciation is something like "nah-dezsh-dah"). The name means "hope." Beautiful, now more than ever.
