Outside of Philadelphia, a bit north of Wayne, PA, is a farmer's market in a strip mall. The lighting is absolutely uninspiring, as is the shed-like structure housing the market. The wares—most sold by purveyors who come from Pennsylvania Dutch Country—are in many cases comfort food. Some of the packaging and signage is pre-retro—i.e. untouched, it seems, by any designer. But, my snarky remarks aside, I'm as comforted by the homey nod to the Plain People's way of life as I am by the pot pie.
