6. Sketchy

For July 16 (a day late and a dollar short, as they say*)

Shame on me for avoiding the very thing I urge students to do—and do daily. After a fun, informal meeting about doing what's essentially a type repeat pattern for a shoe bag, I finally started putting very rough marks on paper. Using an old, small sketchpad that had abortive attempts of images from I'm not even sure where (Maine?), I started to think on paper. Here are the bare beginnings, which I've sketched on top of a drawing. I kind of like the depth the rough bad landscape sketch lends to the rough bad typographical sketch. In this case, bad is good. There's more to do!

*Note to self: see what the same phrase would be in Italian.
