Beat Me to the Punch

I haven't done my homework here. This shop is, I believe, on 27th between 5th and 6th but a cursory online search doesn't yield much info. Still operational as of Fall 2009, the shop seems to dream in 1969 or earlier. Isn't the hand-lettering (avec outline!) wonderful?

I don't even know what a kick press is! This looks likes some dream sequence in a Terry Gilliam movie.

Kick press tooling is often used for secondary operations such as assembly or additional forming of parts from our Fourslide, Bihler, or CNC Wireforming departments. In some cases, our kick press department can also be used for complete production runs of 500 to 10,000 pieces

Here's my incredibly shallow research about Kick Presses, gleaned from ths ite of Park Industries in Melrose Park, IL

It seems to have something to do with inserting grommets.

When I type "Kick Press" into Dictionary.com, it kicks me (sorry! had to do that!) to Ask.com and back to some of the URLs found in my shallow search.

Somehow, Terry Gilliam is an apt connection.
